Today was hard. I don’t know what kind of crack VeloNews was smoking when they called today’s stage “mostly flat”. Last time I checked fifty six hundred feet of climbing is not “mostly flat”.
It was up and down and rain all day. Dirt tan lines all the way. The guys hung tough today. Nick had a really hard day. He got popped off the group with 25k to go. But he pressed on and made the time cut.
I came of the group on the last kicker with 5km to go right as the bunch was splintering. It sucked. For a second I thought I was going to make it. I was turning the gear and then I just cracked. Rolled in two minutes down in 90th something place.
Really hoping the weather let’s up soon.
